Katherine L. Hyde Visiting Artist Program

Bringing professional artists to our campus to interact with our students and community educates and fosters a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary art. It allows for discourse with practitioners of art with different backgrounds and viewpoints than typically found in our region. It is also an opportunity to interact with professionals who are succeeding in navigating the life of an artist, giving insights into the discipline and effort it takes to build artistic careers.

We also bring Art Historians to our campus to present on historical facets of art, often in relation to our institution’s International Themed Semesters but also tied to specific gallery offerings or to our permanent collection of African Art.

The Department of Art and Design’s Visiting Artist programming is generously funded in part by the Katherine L. Hyde Charitable Trust.
