For students who wish to continue their education, Missouri Southern State University fosters excellence by providing a selection of graduate education opportunities. Programs range from data analytics and justice studies to teaching and healthcare administration.

Master of Arts in Teaching

The Master of Arts in Teaching program provides professionals with a previous bachelor’s degree an opportunity to seek teacher certification by expanding their knowledge in education, improving their practice, and learning how to plan and implement curriculum. As part of this program, students complete 37 graduate credit hours which include embedded clinical field experiences.

Master of Business Administration

An MBA builds your existing knowledge to take you from early career positions to management and executive level positions. An MBA can also be useful for aspiring entrepreneurs. MSSU’s MBA will help you develop the ability to accurately analyze complex situations and large amounts of information to effectively manage corporate business units and small businesses alike.

Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction

The Curriculum and Instruction program provides teachers and other professionals an opportunity to expand their knowledge in education, improve their practice, and learn how to better plan and implement curriculum. The program is 30 credit hours (12 credit hours of required courses and 18 hours of elective courses). This allows professionals flexibility and choice regarding areas of interest.

Master of Science in Justice Studies

The Master of Science in Justice Studies is an interdisciplinary partnership between multiple departments and colleges at Missouri Southern State University designed to allow students, from all disciplinary backgrounds, the opportunity to explore and gain a deeper understanding of the multiple facets of what we call “Justice.” Students in this program will synthesize advanced scholarly knowledge from diverse yet interrelated fields, critique historical and theoretical concepts related to the understanding and application of justice, and master disciplinary and interdisciplinary skills essential to both scholarly and professional settings.

Master of Science in K-12 School Administration

This program aligns with the Missouri Leader Standards, which emphasize the school leader as a competent manager and instructional leader who continuously acquires new knowledge and skills and is constantly seeking to improve leadership practice to provide for high academic achievement for all students. Courses and assessments in this program encourage prospective school leaders to exercise good professional judgment and to use these standards to inform and improve their own practice.

Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management

This degree is designed to help students that are interested in working in sports or recreation. This degree helps prepare students for management-level positions within the sports and recreation industries. Students will learn not only how to do various upper-management level duties, but also why they are doing the tasks. Students will learn necessary business skills, facility and event management, marketing and promotion, and more. This degree will help students advance in their careers and opens up opportunities in other fields.
