Exhibition Submissions

The Spiva Art Gallery is a non-commercial venue providing curated exhibitions of contemporary art as an integral part of the educational mission of the Department of Art and Design, as well as an important and highly visible aspect of its community outreach.

The gallery includes natural lighting through UV protected windows and a 14 foot ceiling. Recently renovated with new flooring, ceiling and LED track lighting, the 1,600 square foot Spiva Gallery includes six movable wall partitions allowing for flexibility with exhibition formats and has approximately 250 running feet of exhibition wall space.

The Department of Art and Design plans the gallery exhibition schedule two years in advance. While exhibitions are selected through a faculty nomination process, independent artists may submit exhibition proposals for solo and curated shows for consideration in our scheduling.

To do so, please include the following materials in your electronic submission:

  • Cover Letter outline proposed exhibtion in PDF or MS Word format
  • 10-15 jpeg images organized in a single PDF or powerpoint file along with caption information.
  • Current CV in PDF or MS Word format.
  • Current artist’s statement in PDF or MS Word format

Deadline: typically, submissions received between September 1 of the previous year and August 31 of the current year will be considered during the current year's exhibition planning meeting.

Hard copy and incomplete digital submissions will not be considered.
