Southern Kickoff is a one-day orientation event for students and families. This event is designed to help students prepare for the first semester at MSSU and complete key tasks.
Southern Welcome is a four-day extended welcome for new students. Orientation Leaders will help new students focus on building community, navigating campus, taking part in traditions, and preparing for the semester ahead.
Guests are welcome at Southern Kickoff.
Guests may help with move-in and attend traditional pinning and convocation ceremonies at Southern Welcome. All other events are exclusive to students.
RSVPs for guests are required for both events.
Lunch will not be provided. However, the Lion's Den is available at your convenience on the 2nd floor of Billinglsy. It has a full grill with both hot and cold entrees.
Look for signs for Southern Kickoff. Parking is available in front of Billingsly Student Center, just off Newman Road.
Southern Welcome parking for enrolled students is available in any student parking lot. A parking permit should be displayed in the front window of the student's vehicle. Guests for traditional pinning and convocation ceremonies may park in any visitor space.
All students will need to complete the requirements. If the student degree program is completely online, please reach out to the Willcoxon Health Center for information.

Course materials information for all classes can be found at: mssubookstore.com. After enrolling, a student’s booklist may be found online or on LioNet. Your booklist will specify the required textbooks requested for your classes. Financial aid can be used for course materials, supplies, and merchandise through the first week of the term.
Course materials may be picked up in store or ordered online at mssubookstore.com. Store hours are posted on the Bookstore website.
Inclusive Access is a program where the required course material will be offered in a digital format through Blackboard on the first day of class. A charge from the MSSU Bookstore, with course and title information, will be placed on your student account. Prior to the start of classes, instructions and information will be sent to your student email. Within that email is a link to your Inclusive Access portal which allows you to opt-out and receive a refund during the first 2 weeks of the spring semester. Refunds also occur when you change or drop a course.
