Start your Lion journey strong! Southern Kickoff is a one-day orientation event designed to help new students and families learn about campus life and complete key tasks in preparation for the first semester at MSSU.

MSSU's Southern Kickoff is a one-day orientation event designed to help students and families prepare for the first semester. Our goal is to help ease the transition between your previous school (high school or college) and your future as a Missouri Southern Lion. This is your opportunity to tour our vibrant campus, discover housing options, enroll in classes, and meet faculty, staff, other students, and much more!

Join us for Southern Welcome, August 13-16, 2026. Southern Welcome is a four-day academic and social orientation for new students starting on move-in day and leading up to the first day of classes. Orientation Leaders will help new students focus on building community, navigating campus, taking part in traditions, and preparing for the semester ahead.
Key Highlights:
All new Freshmen are encouraged to attend Southern Welcome. Registration is required.
