Use the checklists below to ensure your student completes all necessary steps to register and earn university credit. All applications and enrollments for MSSU's Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment program are processed online through DualEnroll.com.
High School Parents: Please work with your school’s dual credit coordinator or counselor. They will partner with MSSU’s Office of Academic Outreach to guide your student through the process.
Home School Parents: Contact the MSSU Office of Academic Outreach directly for help with applications and enrollment.
Start the Conversation
Talk with your student, their high school, and MSSU about the benefits of earning dual credit in high school. Encourage your student to notify the school’s dual credit coordinator if they’re interested in participating.
Understand Credit Transfer
MSSU's Registrar maintains a list of institutions where credits have previously transferred. However, it’s the student’s responsibility to contact the university or college they plan to attend after high school to confirm how MSSU credits will transfer.
Check with the Receiving Institution
Before enrolling in a course, help your student reach out to the Registrar’s Office of their intended college or university to verify course transferability.
Complete the Student Checklist
Guide your student through the Student Checklist to ensure they’ve met all application and enrollment requirements.
Sign Required Documents
As a parent or guardian, you’ll need to electronically sign documents through the DualEnroll.com system each semester. If you don’t receive an email requesting your signature, check with your student to confirm the correct email was used when they created their account. Paper forms are available upon request.
Consider Signing FERPA Waiver Forms
Once enrolled, MSSU can only communicate directly with the student about academic records and billing due to federal privacy laws. If you’d like to stay informed, talk to your student about completing the appropriate FERPA waiver forms:
Encourage Responsibility
Encourage student responsibility whenever possible. This endeavor is intended to prepare your student for the academic rigor required at the University level.

The MSSU Dual Credit website is your central hub for all forms, policies, and information. Take time to review the guidelines that apply to parents and guardians of dual credit students.
Make Timely Payments
If you're covering course costs, please ensure payment is submitted by the appropriate deadline. You can pay:

Plan Ahead for Scheduling
Support your student in planning around any potential conflicts, such as extracurriculars, vacations, or testing schedules.

Your student has access to a variety of benefits as an MSSU student! Encourage them to explore campus resources, services, and discounts available through the program.
Check Final Grades
Grades will be posted on LioNet at the end of the course. Before requesting an official transcript, confirm that the final grade has been posted.

Return Textbooks
Remind your student to coordinate with their instructor and/or dual credit coordinator to return any textbooks provided for the course.
