Registered Sex Offenders on Campus

A federal law, the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act amendment to the Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act, requires registered sex offenders to indicate when they are enrolled or employed at institutions of higher learning.

The law further requires state law enforcement authorities, in this case the Jasper County Sheriff's Office (or other agencies within the state), to provide Missouri Southern State University Police Department with a list of registered sex offenders who have indicated that they are either enrolled or employed at the MSSU campus.

Missouri Southern State University is required to inform the campus community of the existence of the list and where it is available for review. The list is available to be viewed at the MSSU Police Department, 726 N. Mission Hills Drive, Joplin, MO.
