How do I set up an individual appointment with a tutor?

Book an Appointment

You’ll be automatically logged in using your MSSU email credentials. If you encounter an error, it may be due to dual roles on campus (e.g., student worker status). In such cases, please use a device dedicated to your student account. Please contact the Student Success Center at StudentSuccessCenter@mssu.edu or 417-625-3550 for assistance.

For which courses do tutors provide help?

Tutoring is available in writing, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history, political science, sociology, psychology and other courses.

What kind of tutoring is available?

  • Drop-in (no appointment necessary when tutor is available)
  • Appointments with a tutor for individual instruction
  • Online tutoring
  • Evening and weekend (by appointment)

Where does tutoring take place?

The majority of tutoring takes place in the Student Success Center. For most subjects, there are drop-in hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Hearnes Hall 301 and 317.

Who comes for tutoring?

The tutoring service is for any currently enrolled Missouri Southern student seeking help. Students who come:

  • may be experiencing low grades in a course
  • may be working for an A and need some additional guidance to achieve it
  • may be referred by an instructor for additional help

How much does tutoring cost?

Tutoring is FREE for Missouri Southern students!

How do I become a tutor?

What are the qualifications to be a tutor? Tutors must:

  • Have achieved a high GPA
  • Show strong achievement in the major
  • Indicate a willingness to help others
  • Demonstrate responsibility and punctuality
