Environmental Health and Safety Certificates

 

About the Certificates


Our certificates are designed for individuals who are not earning a BS or BAS in EH, but are interested in our field of study. They can be earned by degree or non-degree seeking individuals in order to enhance their career opportunities. We offer a variety of certificates that are tailored towards different aspects of environmental health and safety.

Certificates require 12-15hrs of coursework. More than one certificate may be earned.

Certificate options:

Certificate in Environmental Health and Safety General Awareness (15hrs)

  • This certificate allows the student to tailor their coursework to their interest in the field of EH. Students take our Environmental Health and Safety course and 12 additional hrs of any EH prefix course.

Certificate in Environmental Occupational Health and Safety (14hrs)

  • Students earning this certificate will learn knowledge useful for a career related to occupational health and safety. Courses include: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Hazardous Materials Safety, Environmental Risk and Safety Management, and HAZWOPER or Solid and Hazardous Waste Management.

Certificate in Environmental Health and Safety Environmental Protection (12hrs)

  • Students earning this certificate will learn knowledge useful for a career related to protection of our outdoor environment. Courses include: Environmental Biology, Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Regulations and Water Quality Management.

Certificate in Environmental Health and Safety Public Health (12hrs)

  • Students earning this certificate will learn knowledge useful for a career related to public health. Courses include: Soils for Environmental Health and Safety, Disease Vector Control, Food Safety, Epidemiology, Epidemiological Statistics and Hazardous Incident Management.

Certificate in Hazardous Material Management (10hrs)

  • Students earning this certificate will learn knowledge useful for careers that deal have the potential to deal with hazardous materials. Courses include: Hazardous Materials Safety (includes DOT Hazmat General Awareness Certification), Hazardous Incident Management, 40-hr HAZWOPER, and Solid and Hazardous Waste Management.
