Below are some frequently asked questions that we often receive.

What devices have to be registered?

Guests bringing their personal machines on campus, game consoles, Smart TVs, Roku, Chromecast, etc.

Where do I go to register my device?

You can do this online! The website you go to is: connect.mssu.edu

What is my login information?

Username: first part of campus email

Example: DoeJ001

Password: PIN

Example: BA12C3

How do I find my devices' MAC address?

Different devices have different areas where they put their MAC address. The best way to find it is by searching the internet on how to find it for your specific device.

Nintendo Switch

Select "System Settings" from the Home Menu.

Scroll down through the menu and select "Internet".

The MAC address will be listed under "System MAC Address".

Xbox One

Navigate to "My Games and App".

Select "Settings".

Select "Network".

Select "Advanced Settings".

The MAC addresses (wired and wireless) should be displayed.

Playstation 4

Turn on the device without a disk in the drive and wait for the menu to pop up.

Select "Settings".

Select "System".

The MAC addresses should be displayed.

Do I use the wired or wireless MAC address?

You will want to use the wireless MAC address.

What WiFi network do I connect to?

You will have to connect to Lion WiFi Guest. If you try connecting to Lion Wifi, you will get no internet access.

How often do I have to register my device?

You will have to renew it every semester you are on campus.

To renew the device, click the box next to your existing device and click "Approve". you will not need to re add the device a second time. If you do readd it, you may run into some problems.

How do I get my printer connected to the WiFi?

IT does not suggest connecting your printer to the WiFi. Other individuals are able to see and print to your device and you have no control what or how much they will print to it.
