Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

Welcome to Animal Care and Use at Missouri Southern State University.  The Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) provides assurance that the University will comply with the Public Health Service (PHS) policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, federal laws, and the guidelines set forth by major scientific organizations.

Use of animals on campus includes research, teaching, demonstrations, and/or some campus related activities.  If you are performing any of these activities on campus, you need to submit a protocol for review and receive committee approval prior to animal acquisition or use of any kind.

The IACUC will meet on an as needed basis to review submitted applications.  To be sure that the committee has enough time to review applications prior to animal use, submit applications at least several weeks prior to planned activities.  The date of planned activities do not impact approval/disapproval of any applications.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns, please contact us at IACUC@mssu.edu
