International Student Scholarships

MOSO International Achievement Scholarship – (MIAS) [UG]


 

This scholarship will represent the value of $5,500 during your first year based on 24 credit hours.  The scholarship is renewable the second year if a student completes 24 unique credit hours with a 3.0 or higher GPA.  If a student does not maintain continuous enrollment, they will lose their waiver. 

NEW Freshman (first-year students)

  • To be eligible for MIAS, you must have graduated from a school outside of the United States and be at one of the following levels of English proficiency:
    • TOEFL: 68
    • IELTSL 6.0
    • Duolingo: 95
    • International freshman who are not required to provide proof of English proficiency because they are from an English-speaking country are eligible with a 3.00 high school GPA or with an ACT score of 21 or SAT score of at least 1060.
  • Must have a 2.75 high school GPA

NEW Transfer Students

  • To be eligible for the MIAS, you must transfer to MSSU with a 3.0 GPA in at least 24 hours of transferable credit and meet standard MIAS English proficiency levels. Transfer students with fewer than 24 transferable hours will be eligible based on freshman criteria alone. 
  • Students who transfer from institutions that have partnership MOU’s with MSSU offering in-state plus 10% tuition are not eligible for this scholarship.

Renewability: The MOSO International Achievement Scholarship may be received for a maximum of eight (8) semesters for freshman and six (6) semesters for transfer students of undergraduate study provided the recipient:

  • Maintains status as a full-time MSSU undergraduate student (12 or more undergraduate credit hours) each semester, and
  • Remains in good academic standing (not be placed on academic probation), and
  • Maintains a minimum cumulative MSSU grade-point average of 2.75 upon completion of each academic year.

 

MOSO First-Year International Award


 

Upon admission to the university, this is a one-time award for first-time freshman.  This scholarship will allow students who are not eligible for the MOSO International Achievement Award to receive a scholarship.

Value: $1000

Eligibility: To be considered, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • New first-time international students admitted as a degree-seeking.
  • Must have a 2.25 GPA
  • English proficiency:
    • TOEFL: 68
    • IELTSL 6.0
    • Duolingo: 95

Renewability: The MOSO First-Year International Award is a one-time award upon admission for one semester (non-renewable). 

 

MOSO International Retention Scholarship


 

The retention scholarship is awarded after degree-seeking students complete 24 credit hours (finished after the first year). 

Value: $1000 ($500 per semester)

Eligibility: To be considered, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Completed 24 credit hours at MSSU
  • Must live on campus
  • Awarded up to 6 semesters (Summers not included)

Renewability: The MOSO International Retention Scholarship may be received for a maximum of six (6) semesters of undergraduate study provided the recipient:

  • Maintains status as a full-time MSSU undergraduate student (12 or more undergraduate credit hours) each semester, and
  • Remains in good academic standing (not be placed on academic probation), and
  • Maintains a minimum cumulative MSSU grade-point average of 3.0 upon completion of each academic year.
