Anderson Justice Center 

This building is located across the street from our main campus and is home to our Criminal Justice programs, Law Enforcement Training, Show-Me Gold program, Franklin Technology and more. It is home to a state-of-the-art shooting range, impressive crime lab facility, training simulators, and more. 

 

kuhn hall

Kuhn Hall

Home to our English and Philosophy Department, Kuhn Hall offers classes in literature, writing and philosophy. Kuhn Hall is where our literary magazine, bordertown, lives. You will take your English classes here whether you're a Literary Studies major or just need to meet your general education requirements.

Kuhn Annex

Located at the back of Kuhn Hall, the Annex is a cozy space with a classroom on the left (accessible by an exterior and interior door) and is home to the Saltzman Reading Room, which is open to the public when it is not being used for classes, clubs, or faculty meetings. You may have some of your English classes here, so don't be confused if you see KUHNX on your schedule.

Nixon Hall

Our newest building, Nixon Hall is our home for the Mathematics Department. Connected to Reynolds Hall by an innovative skywalk, Nixon features state-of-the-art labs and equipment. Named after its donor, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, our mathematics building is dedicated to scientific and numerical research.

Reynolds Hall

Reynolds Hall is home to the Biology, Chemical and Physical Science, and Environmental Health Departments. It is connected to the in-progress Mathematics Department in Nixon Hall, and features recently-renovated labs and state-of-the-art research equipment. You will find yourself in this building at some point even if you are not majoring in one of the sciences—your general education requirements in Biology and Physical Science will be carried out in labs and lecture halls here.

Reynolds Annex

Despite being part of Reynolds Hall and the Science Departments, the Reynolds Annex is located behind the Physical Plant on the western side of campus. The Annex provides the departments of Biology and Chemical and Physical Science additional space to conduct labs. The Annex will appear on your schedule as REYNX.

Biology Pond 

Home to a variety of wildlife within a thriving ecosystem, the Biology Pond is located near the Reynolds Annex and Physical Plant and is used primarily by the Biology Department and Environmental Health Department to explore, test, and study.

Spiva Art Gallery

Our generously-sized art gallery is home to student-crafted studio work and is open to the public for free viewing. Our Gallery often hosts visiting world-class artwork curated by critics, artists and museum directors from all over the globe. The Gallery connects our campus and community with breakout student work and established artistic traditions. During our Nordic-themed semester, the Gallery was briefly home to Edvard Munch's photography, making it the second location in the US (and the world) to present Munch's photographic work.

Taylor Performing Arts Center 

 Home to our Theater and Music departments, our Performing Arts Center is a hub of events, performances and shows for the campus and greater-Joplin community. Students put on musical recitals and various plays throughout the year, drawing in students, faculty/staff and off-campus guests. The center provides performing arts students with a modern, accessible platform to showcase their work and hone their skills. The center's main 2,200-seat auditorium hosts campus and community events year-round, such as Foreign Language Field Day and local dance recitals.

Webster Hall

This three-story Communications-focused building is well-known on campus for having a row of international flags outside--this defining characteristic is spot-on, as Webster Hall is home to our International Studies and Modern Languages Departments. Webster also houses a recently renovated Language Lab, a fully-functioning TV Productions Studio called KGCS, and lecture halls for the Political Science and Sociology departments. Webster's Corley Auditorium hosts events all-year-round, including seminars and lectures from visiting professors and speakers on a wide range of topics. The Auditorium features events for each year's culturally themed semester. 


Plaster College of Business

Plaster Free Enterprise Center

The Plaster College of Business in the Plaster Center houses a wide range of departments: Accounting, Computer Information Science, Engineering Technology, Entrepreneurship, General Business, HR Management, International BusinessManagement and Marketing. The Plaster College of Business is home to two Master's Programs, as well, in Management and Accountancy. Plaster is a commonly-used building, bringing in speakers and events to its recently remodeled, state-of-the-art Cornell Auditorium.

Ummel Technology

Home to the Department of Engineering Technology, the Ummel Technology Building features some of the most modern, up-to-date labs on campus. Located on the westernmost point of our campus, Ummel connects the Plaster College of Business to the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Health Sciences by also being home to the Cadaver Lab. One of only a few schools in Missouri with a Cadaver Lab, this hands-on facility allows medical and science majors to explore human anatomy.

Léon Health Sciences Center 

Named after the esteemed retired President of MSSU, the Julio S. Léon Health Sciences Center is dedicated to the pursuit of medical sciences. Our Health Sciences School houses the departments of Dental Hygiene, EMT Paramedic, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing, Radiology and Respiratory Care. The building boasts an innovative sim lab where students can put their medical skills to the test on reactive, responsive patients. The building is also home to our accelerated medical program, Yours to Lose.

Leggett & Platt Athletic Center and Young Gymnasium 

This multi-purpose facility houses an Olympic swimming pool, a state-of-the-art gymnasium used for MSSU and Joplin High School graduation ceremonies and classrooms for our Kinesiology Department. The center is used by various departments on campus, and frequently hosts community events. You may find yourself here for an event, for a class, and eventually, for your commencement ceremony.

Lion Cub Academy 

Recently remodeled and nationally recognized for its innovative design, the Lion Cub Academy offers an academically-backed setting for children of students, faculty/staff and the community to spend the day on-campus under the supervision of quality care workers. Education students have the opportunity to work here as interns or student workers, gaining hands-on experience in the field of child care and instruction.

Taylor Hall of Education 

Home to our Undergraduate and Post-graduate programs in the Education Department, Taylor Hall is where you'll find yourself if you are taking any classes in Education or are part of our Honors Program. Taylor Hall is the base for all Honors Program activity, so if you are needing to talk with one of the Honors professors, this is where you will need to go.

Need a quiet place to study? Our four-story library building is a staple of campus life. With a coffee shop on the first level, Career Services on the second, and rows upon rows of books available to be checked-out for study or pleasure, you'll find what you need at our library and relax in the cozy ambiance.

Billingsly Student Center 

The Student Center is just that--a center all for you.  Our three-story student center located in the middle of campus is a hub for student activity throughout the week. Sit back and read or study in one the newly remodeled seating areas, grab a bite to eat in the Lion's Den, work-out at our state-of-the-art gym, watch a movie with friends in our Phelps Theater, or buy some MOSO swag from the bookstore. The center also houses some handy offices for your use, too, like Card Services and the Book Rental office in the basement and the Willcoxon Health Center

Hearnes Hall

This is a Hall you'll become familiar with quickly--this is your one-stop-shop for help with financial aid, paying your tuition at the bursar's, and registering for classes and graduation. The President of the University is also housed in this building, so if you pass him in the hall, say hi!  


Athletics

End Zone Facility 

This high-quality, state-of-the-art building serves our athletic teams, providing university athletes with locker rooms for multiple sports, an athletic training room, meeting rooms, a Hall of Fame, offices for coaching staff, and an alumni event center. The building is located at the north end of Fred G. Hughes Stadium at the Robert W. Plaster Sports Complex. If you're a student athlete, you'll get acquainted with this building quickly, and if you're not, you may find yourself here for an event or guest speaker.

Fred G. Hughes Stadium 

You'll find yourself at this stadium at some point in your college career, cheering on the Lions in an exciting football game or watching the professional fireworks display for the Fourth of July. Our world-class stadium offers football and cross-country facilities, a baseball field and a multi-purpose athletic facility. While you're here, grab a bite to eat at the food court and take a picture with our mascot, Roary the Lion.
