Staff Senate

The Staff Senate of Missouri Southern State University shall consist of all MSSU employees who are classified as exempt or non-exempt personnel, who hold a non-academic position by primary appointments as defined by the MSSU Policy Guide and are not protected by tenure, per the MSSU Staff Senate Bylaws.

The Staff Senate represents all classified and professional support staff employees through regularly scheduled meetings and special meetings as called by the Staff Senate Chair. The Staff Senate communicates information to the classified and professional support staff, creates standing or special events committees and strives to develop membership participation.

The Staff Senate communicates to the President's Council, the University Administration and the Board of Governors employee concerns, suggestions, and other relevant information and feedback regarding various issues.

Mission

The Staff Senate of Missouri Southern State University is committed to being an active partner in campus governance, while providing open communication and supporting the pivotal role of staff as an integral part of the campus community. Through our leadership, we will assist in shaping University policy and promoting a supportive environment for all staff

Vision

Staff Senate will unite with University administration to continually improve the quality of life for all employees, while striving to make Missouri Southern a first-choice destination for current and prospective employees.

Goals

  • Create a culture that supports University pride through communication and collaboration amongst senators and campus community to encourage and solicit engagement with all areas of campus.
  • Advocate for the development of work environments that foster collaboration and professional growth, while promoting healthy habits and work-life balance.
  • Develop, support and enhance positive initiatives that create a more vibrant campus community, build support, and foster the mental and physical well-being of the campus community.
