Established in 2019, the Professional Achievement Award in Psychology is an honor given to an alumnus from Missouri Southern who is making significant contributions in the field of Psychology. This award is recognized by the College of Education.
Candidates are nominated for the Professional Achievement Award in Psychology by alumni, friends of the University, and faculty and staff of MSSU. Information is gathered from many different sources. The Awards Committee, comprised of faculty members of the Department of Psychology, will meet to review all nominations and make the selection.
Persons nominated for this award can be any Psychology alumnus from Joplin Junior College, Missouri Southern State College, or Missouri Southern State University, with the exception of any paid MSSU staff member, and must be currently working in an area in which psychology is applicable (e.g., human and social services, research, education, business, law). The nominee will have made distinguished achievements in research/scholarship in academic or non-academic settings, made significant contributions in their chosen profession, discipline, or community, and/or demonstrated leadership in their chosen profession, discipline, or community.
