Outstanding Teacher Educator Award

Purpose


Established in 2019, the Outstanding Teacher Educator Award is an honor given to an alumnus from Missouri Southern who is making significant contributions to their classroom, school and district through their time, actions, talents and dedication in the field of education. This award is recognized by the College of Education.

Process


Candidates are nominated for the Outstanding Teacher Educator Award by alumni, friends of the University, faculty and staff of MSSU. Information is gathered from many different sources. The Awards Committee, comprised of faculty members of the Teacher Education Department will meet to review all nominations, and make the selection.

Criteria


Persons nominated for this award can be any alumnus from Joplin Junior College, Missouri Southern State College or Missouri Southern State University, with the exception of any paid MSSU staff member, and must be currently working as a classroom teacher. The nominee will have consistently demonstrated qualities of compassion, service and excellence in teaching in their classroom, school and district.
