Faculty Development Grants

The Facutly Development Committee (FDC) accepts and reviews applications for funding to support faculty, research, travel, and instructional assistance. One main goal of the Faculty and Student Development Committee is to discover ways to encourage and facilitate the faculty to improve and develop as professionals.  Individual faculty members may receive more than one grant, including funding from more than one category, however the total of all grant amounts will not exceed $1200 for the year.

Faculty Travel Grants

Purpose:  To provide support for scholarly and creative activity by funding expenses connected with the activity; publication page charges (excludes predatory journals), editorial research assistance, etc. Dissertation expenses are not funded by the Faculty and Student Development Committee. (Grant funds limited to $1200 per-person, per-year.)

Procedures:  Individual faculty members apply using the Faculty Travel Grant form. Items to have prepared for the application:

  • Travel Pre-Approval Form
  • Documentation of Chair Approval (required only if someone other than your Chair signed the Travel Pre-Approval form)
  • Itemized Projected Costs
  • Location and Dates of Travel
  • If presenting, you must have an acceptance email/documentation

Faculty Research Grants

Purpose:  To provide support for scholarly and creative activity by funding expenses connected with the activity; publication page charges (excludes predatory journals), editorial research assistance, etc. Dissertation expenses are not funded by the Faculty and Student Development Committee. Procedures:  Individual faculty members apply using the Faculty Research and Instructional Grant form.  Items to have prepared for the application:

Faculty Research and Instructional Grant form


Instructional Assistance Services

Purpose:  To provide professional assistance to individual faculty members or groups of faculty members in solving problems, providing advice, or developing materials in matters directly relating to classroom instruction.  Services include: individual group consultation, access to resource person, teaching skills, video-taping, providing bibliographies, organizing seminars and limited professional library.  (Grant funds limited to $250 per-person, per-year.)

Procedures:  Individual faculty members apply using the Faculty Research and Instructional Grant form.  Items to have prepared for the application:

  • Chair approval documentation
  • Itemized Projected Costs

May 1, 2026 Any future conferences (up to 12 months) and those attended as far back as December 1, 2025


The committee may assess time critical submissions outside the above dates if needed.
