About the Minor in Biology

About the Minor:


A biology minor allows you the option to concentrate a portion of your university study on biology, even if you’ve chosen another academic major. This could benefit you if you view biology as an extension of your major field or if you see biology as lifelong interest while pursuing a largely unrelated field.

What You’ll Learn:


  • The minor in biology requires two four-hour courses in Principles of Biology (I and II) and a 5 hour course in General & Medical Microbiology. It also involves courses in Genetics, General Ecololgy and Aquatic Ecology, as well as 200 + level electives.
  • You’ll also need to take courses in Algebra & Trigonometry, Calculus with Analytic Geometery I, two general Chemistry Courses, one organic Chemistry Course and one course in Elementary College Physics.

This Minor is Great if:


  • You’re interested in biology as a career extension but not a primary career.
  • Have a strong interest in aspects of biology as it affects you, life and the world.
  • If you have a strong interest in science and you're  looking for an academic minor.
