A biology minor allows you the option to concentrate a portion of your university study on biology, even if you’ve chosen another academic major. This could benefit you if you view biology as an extension of your major field or if you see biology as lifelong interest while pursuing a largely unrelated field.
To complete the Biology minor, you will have the option to take a variety of classes that are best suited to your interests, in areas such as human biology, conservation biology, ecology, microbiology etc… Students work with an academic advisor in the Biology department to select courses that are most appropriate for them.
To earn the minor a student must complete 20 hours of courses with a Biology prefix (BIO). At least 12 of those hours must be at the 200+ level and at least 6 must be at the 300+ level.
