Application for Admission- Procedure

To be considered for acceptance into the Respiratory Care program, the applicant must:


Step One: Application

Submit an Application Form and Criminal Background Check Form to the  Respiratory Therapy Department Office on the Missouri Southern Campus with the application fee.

Step Two: TEAS

Test of Essential Academic Skills

Contact the Missouri Southern State University Testing Center. Located in Webster Hall, room 117, phone number 417-625-9577. Receipt for payment of testing fee must be presented at time of testing.

Applicants for whom English is a second language must take the Test of English as Modern Language (TOEFL) and obtain a minimum score of 600 or 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL. Non-English speaking applicants must meet the same general admission requirements as all others applying for the Respiratory Therapy Program. The TOEFL tests are offered only at selected sites and select dates in Missouri. Applicants are responsible for making their own arrangements for taking the TOEFL tests.

Step Three: Submit the following Documents

  • Official Transcripts:
  • High school or GED
  • College transcripts
  • Vocational or Technical School, if applicable
  • Background check form

Step Four: Information Gathering Interview

Applicants whose TEAS  composite score is 47 or above and has supplied the above documents will be contacted and scheduled for an interview with program faculty. All selected applicants will submit to a drug screen.
