"I chose the English major because I've always loved the language and what the department teaches. I've been a reader and writer for as long as I can remember—devouring anything from dictionaries to fantasy novels, and going above and beyond on essays with research and arguments that stood out.
Studying English let me deepen my favorite hobbies, explore new stories and perspectives, and gain skills I’ll use in the future. I learned how to express my thoughts clearly across disciplines.
It’s been an unforgettable experience I’ll keep building on."
"At MSSU, my English classes have taught me to think critically, build evidence-based arguments, and write persuasively. I’ve come to appreciate complex academic texts and, with guidance from supportive professors, strengthened my writing through valuable feedback. I've developed skills in both creative and academic writing while exploring art, poetry, and history.
This field opens many doors—its skills transfer to countless careers, and my personal writing. I chose this major because it fosters empathy, historical awareness, and challenges me to think deeply about my role in the world."
