About the Degree
The minor in English with a creative writing emphasis is designed to develop your writing skills and to provide you with a way to present your accomplishments to prospective employers and graduate schools, as well as publishers. The department offers you opportunities to use your talents and pursue your interests through Sigma Tau Delta, our department’s chapter of the national honors society, and through bordertown, our student-run magazine dedicated to publishing the creative works of MSSU students.
What You'll Learn
- Techniques and styles for the writing of prose, poetry and drama
- Advanced methods for practicing and learning the writing of fiction, including analysis and emulation of professional models.
- Workshop editing of original student writing.
