Missouri Southern is a member of the Missouri Consortium for International Programs and Studies, which has been sponsoring the Missouri London Program since 1982. The MLP sends students to the University of Roehampton in southwest London (in the Wimbledon area). The University of Roehampton, with 9,000 students, is the only traditional campus university in the city; the bustling heart of central London is just six miles away.
Students can choose courses from the Roehampton Study Abroad Catalogue. Also, London Studies modules have been developed for study abroad students. These courses make the most of Roehampton's close proximity to central London. London is used as the classroom, and you are offered the chance to experience the city from an exciting academic perspective.
The tuition cost is £6,930.00 per semester. Rooms are single occupancy with shared kitchen facilities; a standard room is £2,683.57 for Autumn and £3,188.71 for the longer Spring semester. An En-suite room is £3,172.21 for Autumn and £3,772.94 for Spring; a Deluxe Room is £3,753.57 and £4,466.71 for Spring. There is an optional Social programme with the cost of £450; this includes evening events in an around London and guided day trips to cultural and historical locations in the U.K. MSSU students who are eligible can receive a study abroad grant to cover most or all of their airfare. All of your MSSU financial aid applies to this program, and you do not have to pay MSSU tuition on top of the Roehampton costs!
Roehampton does not have any insurance requirements, but suggests that students check with their existing coverage provider to make sure they will be covered for medical needs while abroad. MSSU recommends that students purchase insurance from LewerMark. Costs can vary by age and length of your Study Abroad Experience, but for a typical student it ranges from about $150 to $200 for a single semester. The British National Health Service advises all students to have a vaccination against meningitis before they begin their studies.
All on-campus accommodations are self-catering, so students cook for themselves. During the day there are standard university canteens serving hot food; students can always grab a pub-style meal in The Union Bar.
Roehampton has now added a meal plan so that you can eat at the restaurants and cafes on campus.
