JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Missouri Southern State University Career Services is helping students prepare for the job market.
The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network and MSSU have partnered to offer two weeks of Career Prep Events Sept.18-25.
• A Career Fair “How to Lunch Series” is scheduled for noon on Sept. 18 - 20 the Ralph L Gray Alumni Center on the MSSU campus. Topics will include tips for successful job searches, interviews and meeting employer expectations. Sept. 18 will feature “How to Find the Job.” Sept. 19 will focus on “How to Get a Job.” The series will wrap up on Sept. 20 with “How to Keep the Job and be Promotable.”
• A Career Fair Cram is planned for Thursday, Sept. 20 in the Billingsly Student Center Ballroom. This event offers stations to help students learn the soft skills needed to be successful in the job market. Mock interviews and resume critiques will also be offered by area professionals. Nicole Brown, Director of Career Services, says although sessions are directed toward students entering the job market, alumni are welcome to attend,
• An Etiquette Dinner and Networking 101 session, slated for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in the Alumni Center will offer networking, dining, and work etiquette advice in a fun and interactive setting, A $10 RSVP is required this event. Payment should be made at the Career Services Office in Room 219 of the Spiva Library at MSSU.
• The Fall Career & Majors Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. Over seventy-five employers and graduate schools are registered to attend the fair offering full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities.
