Lions add junior college guard

Joplin, Mo. - Missouri Southern women's basketball head coach Maryann Mitts has announced the signing of Danielle Harris to a national letter of intent to attend Southern and play basketball beginning in the 2009-10 season.

Harris joins four other junior college transfers that signed with the Lions earlier in the signing period and three incoming freshmen that signed with Southern in the fall.

Harris is a 5-7 native of Leesburg, Florida where she played for coach Mark Oates at Leesburg High School. Harris enrolled at Tallahassee Community College and most recently played at Neosho (Kan.) County Community College prior to heading to Southern.

At Leesburg, Harris averaged 21 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game her senior year en route to being named first-team All-Conference and All-State. She was a McDonalds All-American nominee while playing for the Bumble Bees.

At Neosho this past season, Harris averaged 13.9 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game, while being named the Jayhawk League Player of the Week once and earning a nomination to the All-Region team.

The daughter of Deshawn and Semetrice Callahan, Danielle plans to major in criminal justice at Southern.
