Julie Wengert was named Compliance Coordinator at Missouri Southern in January of 2003 and was just recently named Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. A former standout for the Lions tennis team, she served from August 2001 until March 2003 as the squad's head coach. A native of Parsons, Kan., Wengert had a stellar career for the Southern tennis team, lettering at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and at No. 1 doubles all four years. She was a three-time Academic All-MIAA and MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection. Wengert won back-to-back No. 1 doubles championships in the conference tournament as a sophomore and a junior and was an integral part of the Lions' MIAA championship run her sophomore year. Wengert graduated magna cum laude from MSSU in May 2001 with a degree in
elementary education. She earned her masters in Athletics Administration
from William Woods University in 2007. Formerly Julie Posch, she is married to former Lion
baseball player Jonathan Wengert and the couple welcomed their first child,
Jocelyn, in March of 2007.
