Services for Don Gross to be held on Tuesday

Funeral services for Don Gross, the longtime radio voice of the Lions, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 25th and Moffett Streets in Joplin.

A rosary will be held tonight at 7 p.m., also at St. Mary's, with a visitation immediately following.

Gross, 77, died at his home Friday morning, Sept. 27, 2002.

During his lengthy broadcasting career, Gross served as the sports voice of many area teams, including MSSC, the Joplin Eagles, Parkwood Bears, Memorial Eagles and Joplin Junior College. He was named to the Missouri Southern Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 and was a charter member of the Joplin Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
