If you are transferring to MSSU from:

 

From an Accredited Two-Year College in Missouri: Effective Fall 2002, students who have completed the State of Missouri General Education Core Curriculum (42 semester hours) prior to enrolling at MSSU, will have met MSSU lower division General Education Core requirements for Areas 1 through 4.

  • Students must additionally meet Area 5 of the MSSU General Education Core with equivalent transfer courses, or complete the required courses at MSSU.
  • Effective Fall 2004, MSSU will accept unlimited lower division transfer hours from an accredited two-year college for students following the MSSU 2004-2006, or later, catalog.
  • Transfer students who have not completed the above General Education Core Curriculum will have their courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
  • Credits from an accredited two-year college will be accepted to fulfill lower division requirements only.
  • The following requirements must also be met:
    • Students must earn a minimum of 60 semester credit hours at MSSU or other accredited four-year institution.
    • A minimum of 30 of the last 36 semester hours for the Baccalaureate Degree must be earned in residence at MSSU.
    • One-half of the major requirements must be earned at MSSU.
    • A minimum of 40 semester hours must be upper division.

From an Accredited Two-Year Out-of-State College

  • Effective Fall 2004, MSSU will accept unlimited lower division transfer hours from an accredited two-year college for students following the MSSU 2004-2006, or later, catalog.
  • Courses will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
  • Credits from an accredited two-year college will be accepted to fulfill lower division requirements only.
  • The following requirements must also be met:
    • Students must earn a minimum of 60 semester credit hours at MSSU or other accredited four-year institution.
    • A minimum of 30 of the last 36 semester hours for the Baccalaureate Degree must be earned in residence at MSSU.
    • One-half of the major requirements must be earned at MSSU.
    • A minimum of 40 semester hours must be upper division.

From an Accredited Four-Year College or University in Missouri:

    • A minimum of 30 of the last 36 semester hours for the Baccalaureate Degree must be earned in residence at MSSU.
    • One-half of the major requirements must be earned at MSSU.
    • A minimum of 40 semester hours must be upper division.

From an Accredited Four-Year Out-of-State or International College or University

  • Transfer students who have not completed a previous degree will have their courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
  • Transfer students who have been awarded a Baccalaureate Degree from a regionally accredited U.S. College or an accepted foreign equivalent, prior to enrolling at MSSU, are assumed to have fulfilled all lower division Core Curriculum requirements.
  • Out of state post-graduate students must fulfill the State Legislation Requirement for the Missouri Constitution.  International students must also fulfill requirements for U.S. History and the U.S. Constitution.  (See the Academic Affairs section of catalog under State Legislation Requirements for more details).
  • The following requirements must also be met:
    • A minimum of 30 of the last 36 semester hours for the Baccalaureate Degree must be earned in residence at MSSU.
    • One-half of the major requirements must be earned at MSSU.
    • A minimum of 40 semester hours must be upper division.

ADDITIONAL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

CREDIT HOURS: At least 124 semester hours of college credit applicable to a baccalaureate degree are required for graduation.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE

  1. A 2.0 cumulative grade point average for ALL credit hours attempted.
  2. A 2.0 grade point average within the major (some majors have other requirements).
  3. At least 2.0 grade point average for ALL courses taken in the major department.
  4. A grade point average of 2.75 and an ACT composite score of 20 Enhanced as required for the Teacher Education Program. Teacher education candidates must pass the Missouri C-Base test.

WRITING INTENSIVE
Writing intensive courses are identified in the Schedule of Classes with a “WI” placed at the end of the course number. Students transferring from a Missouri community college with an Associate of Arts degree need two WI courses at the junior/senior level, one of which must be in the major.

COMPUTER LITERACY
All students will receive computer instruction necessary to function as a member of society and to satisfy a level of skill sufficient for problem solving within their discipline.  Department heads will certify the competency of the students in their major.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE
All students expecting to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree must successfully complete 12 hours of the same foreign language as part of the graduation requirements.

EDUCATION MAJORS
Students who plan to major in elementary or secondary education must apply for admission to the

Education Program in room 220 Taylor Education-Psychology Building before enrolling in EDUC courses.

ASSESSMENT
All degree candidates are required to participate in College assessment activities.
