Lisa Gerstenkorn

Lisa Gerstenkorn photoLisa Marie Gerstenkorn currently serves as Adjunct Voice Instructor at Missouri Southern State University. She is also on the Voice Faculty at Pittsburg State University, where she teaches Voice and Applied Diction. Ms. Gerstenkorn was a semi-finalist in both the Classical and Musical Theatre categories of the West Central NATS competition in 2004 and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, as well as a member of the music fraternity Pi Kappa Lambda. 

She has been a Young Artist with the Ohio Light Opera in Wooster, Ohio and the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Lisa is currently the alto vocalist for the Mosaic Vocal Ensemble of Springfield, MO and is performing in her seventh season with the Tulsa Opera Chorus under the direction of Kostis Protopapas. In February 2012, she made her solo debut with Tulsa Opera as Sister Lillianne in Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking.

Additional performances have been with the Heartland Opera Theatre, Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park, Springfield Regional Opera, Pittsburg State University Opera, Independence Community College Opera, Pittsburg Community Theatre, and the Midwest Regional Ballet in Joplin, Mo. Favorite roles include Little Buttercup in HMS Pinafore, Ruth in Pirates of Penzance, La Principessa in Suor Angelica, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, Dominique du Monaco in Lucky $tiff, Glinda in the Wizard of Oz, and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ, Superstar.

Ms. Gerstenkorn has also taught Voice at Kansas City Kansas Community College and served as Assistant Director for PSU's Opera Workshop. She was the Vocal Director for the Pittsburg Community Theatre's musicals Lucky $tiff and Hairspray, and their Children's Drama Workshop production of Totally Red! the Musical.

Ms. Gerstenkorn holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Pittsburg State University. Her Voice teachers have included Dr. Jessie Wright Martin, Brian Woods, Dr. Loraine Sims and Dr. Rebecca Sherburn. Currently Ms. Gerstenkorn is studying under the tutelage of Dr. Bill Hall of the American Opera Studio, with whom she frequently performs in Kansas City, Mo.

Additionally, Ms. Gerstenkorn enjoys teaches her thriving private Voice Studio in Pittsburg, Kan. where she resides with her husband Brian O'Neill.
