Education:
Aside from my teaching, I am very interested in contributing to the scholarship in my field of Victorian literature. I have had two books published by university presses: Time Is of the Essence: Temporality, Gender, and the New Woman (State University of New York Press, 2001) and In Science’s Shadow: Literary Constructions of Late Victorian Women (University of Missouri Press, 2006). I am currently writing a third book on late-Victorian literature. I have also published extensively in my field in scholarly journals. My research interests include representations of women in Victorian literature, Victorian science, and the genre of the novel.
I received my Ph.D. in English from the University of Iowa, specializing in Victorian literature. I received a master’s degree in English from both Northwestern University and the University of Iowa. I received my undergraduate degree from Indiana University with a double major in English and journalism.
