The MSSU Fitness Program is designed to provide a variety of opportunities and assistance to participants of all abilities and fitness levels who wish to be involved in a personal exercise program.

Fitness Class Descriptions

HIIT Camp

HIIT Camp is a class that teaches a combination of the full body workouts found in boot camp classes and the high intensity bursts of cardio performed in HIIT* workouts! (HIIT = high intensity interval training)

Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength, and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination. Pilates exercises can easily be modified to suit participants ranging from beginners to advanced, and ALL ARE WELCOME!

Yoga w/ Josh

Josh is a registered Yoga Alliance Instructor. He has been teaching Gentle Flow Vinyasa style yoga at MSSU since the fall of 2015. His class is perfect for beginners or experienced yogis and gives participants the ability to do yoga at a level that is comfortable for them. He loves seeing the physical and emotional improvements yoga gives to faculty, staff, and students!

Yoga w/ Val

This class improves strength, balance, and range-of-motion without punishing the body. It consists of rhythmic movement of all levels with respect to Vinyasa Flow. It is challenging in all the best ways, but with offered modifications. Explore the max benefits of each yoga pose while focusing on yogic breath work: move, breathe, and get robust!

Zumba

Zumba exercise classes are “fitness parties” that blend up-beat world rhythms with easy-to-follow choreography for a total body workout that feels like a celebration. Zumba fitness is designed to take the “work” out of working out and put a smile on your face! So come on everybody--ditch the workout and join the PARTY!
