TEACH Grant Program

TEACH Grant at Missouri Southern State University


The TEACH Grant program awards grants to students, who intend to teach, to help meet the cost of their postsecondary education.

  • Up to $4,000 maximum per year
  • Student must have and maintain cumulative 3.25 GPA (based on 4.0 scale)
  • Student must be tentatively admitted to Teacher Education at MSSU to be eligible (junior/senior)
  • Student must agree to teach in a high-need field, at a low-income elementary/secondary school for at least 4 years within 8 years of completing the program. Otherwise, the grant converts to the Direct Unsubsidized Loan and requires repayment with interest.
  • Each year, student must complete FAFSA, Agreement to Serve (ATS), and Teach Counseling (all online).
  • Students who have already completed a Bachelor's degree in another field and return for a 2nd Bachelor's in a TEACH Grant eligible program, are NOT eligible to receive a TEACH Grant.

High-need fields are Bilingual Education and English Language Acquisition, Modern Language, Mathematics, Reading Specialist, Science, Special Education, and other identified teacher shortage areas as of the time you begin teaching in that field. (see Missouri shortage areas below)
