Political Science Minor

About the Minor:

The field of political science, essentially, is the study of government, politics and citizenship. With a Bachelor's degree in political science, students learn about the roles of government and influence of public policy. A degree can be applied to many different career paths, from government positions to journalism or teaching. This degree will instill a knowledgeable foundation of communication and analytical skills valued by employers of numerous industries.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the structure and processes of political institutions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various types of political systems and actors.
  • The student must demonstrate a knowledge of the philosophical and theoretical arguments that apply to various political and legal environments.
  • The student must apply philosophical and theoretical arguments to current issues in political and legal environments.
  • The student must demonstrate a knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • The student must demonstrate an ability to conduct analytical research.
  • The student must orally express concepts in the discipline with depth and clarity.
  • The student must write with proficiency commensurate with established standards in the Political Science Department.
