Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the
Dean of the College of Business, Communication, and Technology beginning January 2, 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced academic administrator with a passion for innovation, student success, and community engagement. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, a collaborative spirit, and the drive to elevate the college’s regional and national profile.

The College of  Business, Communication, and Technology brings together the Plaster School of Business and the Departments of Communication, Mathematics, and Technology. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic leadership in academic planning, faculty development, and program enhancement across diverse disciplines. 
  • Advance the mission of the College through initiatives in fundraising, alumni and community engagement, and student recruitment. 
  • Support excellence in teaching, research, and service across all departments in the College. 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners and regional organizations. 
  • Participate in local, statewide, national, and international organizations relevant to the College’s goals and objectives. 
  • Lead efforts in accreditation, budgeting, curriculum development, and strategic planning. 
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing culture among faculty, staff, and students. 

 Required Qualifications: 

  • Terminal degree in a discipline represented within the College of Business, Communication, and Technology. 
  • At least 5 years of related experience and/or training. 
  • Academic qualifications and scholarly accomplishments appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of professor. 
  • Demonstrated success in academic leadership (e.g., department chair, associate dean, or equivalent role). 
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams and foster a collegial academic environment. 
  • Experience with accreditation. 
  • Valid driver’s license. 


Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Earned Ph.D. in a discipline housed within the College. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a visible, approachable, and student-centered leadership style. 
  • Demonstrated ambition and an entrepreneurial mindset. 
  • Experience or clear potential in fundraising, external relations, and student recruitment. 
  • Administrative knowledge and experience managing academic operations, including budget oversight and accreditation. 
  • Experience with AACSB and/or ABET accreditation.
