Luzarianna Galindo RodriguezLuzarianna Galindo

"My name is Luzarianna Galindo, but I like to go by Luz Galindo. It is much easier to pronounce and remember! I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona but came to Missouri Southern State University in the Fall of 2016. I'm a sophomore studying Health Promotion and Wellness, that will eventually lead me into graduate program studying Physical Therapy! Alongside studying here, I'm also a freshman student within the Honors College at MSSU!
I'm very active and involved in activities here at MSSU. I play for the Women's Soccer team as a Goal Keeper and have enjoyed playing on the team. On top of that, I am also a tour guide, a tutor (specializing in writing), and a University Experience 100 Course Assistant."

Rachel HurshRachel Hursh

Hi my name is Rachel Hursh and I am currently a junior at Missouri Southern State University. My major is English in Secondary Education and I am a writing tutor through the Student Success Center. I was born in Bronx, New York and have spent most of my life in the midwest. I love traveling and have been all over the country. My goal is to one day become an English professor at the university level. My dream is to travel the world and see the places that inspired the greatest works of literature ever created.

Carrie KeenerCarrie Keener

English and Writing

"My name is Carrie. It is nice to meet you! I am a senior pursuing a major in International Studies and minors in Literary Studies and French. I have tutored English and writing skills for almost three years now, here at MSSU and abroad during a year-long study in Morocco. It would be a great joy to sit down with you and discuss your essays, academic and creative ideas, and writing woes. If you don't have much enthusiasm for writing, don't worry about it; I probably have enough enthusiasm for the both of us! I love to express myself through the written word and I love helping others do the same.

When I am not going to class or tutoring, I enjoy a few things: reading, writing, hiking, attempting to play tennis, volunteering, studying Arabic and French, and talking to people about travelling and cultural experiences. After I graduate, I plan to volunteer with the Peace Corps in Morocco as a Youth Volunteer and then someday, get a master's degree in World Literature and Cultures, Refugee Studies, ESL Teaching, Middle East and North African studies, or Bilingualism and Societies in Education. It is sufficient to say I like to keep my options open!"

Trish LeeTrish Lee

“Hello!” My name is Trish and I am a senior here at Missouri Southern, and I tutor Math at the Student Success Center. I am double majoring in Math and Secondary Math. I hope to graduate in the Spring of 2019. I love tutoring Math. I have been tutoring Math for the past 4 years and find it very rewarding. I love interacting with different people because I also learn something from them as well; how to be a better tutor.

Math was not my first choice as a major, and I tell anyone who asks that it really chose me. I understand that Math is not easy for everyone and having started with Beginning Algebra myself and working my way up through the levels in Math I understand how frustrating it can be. That’s why I tutor, because I had someone there to encourage me when I thought I would never get through it! I hope to see you in the Student Success Center!
