"Your Italian Adventure Awaits"
by Dr. Chad Stebbins

Alumni and friends of MSSU - join us for a trip to Italy

Saturday, June 6
Departure day for Italy from our home air departure city. Our airline schedule and departure city has not been finalized yet.  We anticipate details on our flight schedule around the end of February.  At this time we suggest you plan for a mid-morning flight departure time, and the flight travels overnight into Rome. Meal service will be offered onboard the flight.

Sunday, June 7
Flight arrival into Rome. We will be met by our tour company assistant and transferred to our hotel, the Gambrinus.   The Gambrinus is a 4 Star Hotel centrally located near most of the historic sites.  The balance of the day is at your leisure to explore the area and enjoy Rome’s ambiance!

Monday, June 8
Our half-day sightseeing tour of the Vatican will begin your sightseeing today. The Vatican tour includes the famous Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica.  Your afternoon is free to explore Rome on your own until dinner this evening around 7pm.  We’ll enjoy a 3 course meal (with pasta, of course), and an included glass of wine.  Other beverages will be at our own expense.  After dessert and unwinding, we’ll be taken back to our hotel, the Gambrinus.  Meals included (B, D)

Tuesday, June 9
Today we have included a City sightseeing tour of Rome by using the Rome Hop on Hop off sightseeing bus. Your 48 hour pass is good to hop on and off today and Wednesday.  The Hop on and off bus is the easiest way to see the city including the famous Trevi Fountain & Spanish Steps.  Your ticket is valid on both bus routes, and includes (1) skip the line entrance to the Colosseum.   Meals included (B)

Wednesday, June 10
Today is your last day in Rome, and it is yours for the taking!  Use your 2nd day of the Hop-on/Hop-off sightseeing pass; take some time to shop; or re-visit something you might need more time to enjoy.  Meals included (B)

After breakfast, we will depart Rome for Florence, and enjoy a full-day of touring through the Umbria and Tuscany regions.  Before arriving into Florence, we’ll visit St Francis of Assisi Basilica, to explore the twisting alleyways from medieval times set against the backdrop of sacred Mt. Subasion. After Assisi we’ll stop in Perugia, once a trade center and home to fine artists, it is now a cosmopolitan, prestigious university town, known for having some of the best chocolate!  Florence arrival in the afternoon, where you can relax before your included dinner.   Our hotel is the Hotel Delle Nazioni, in the heart of Florence.   Meals included (B, D)

Friday, June 12
After breakfast, a half-day walking tour visiting the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo); Giotto's bell tower; Brunelleschi's famous dome; and the Galleria dell Accademia.  The Accademia has the famous Michelangelo statue of David and many other important European works of art on display. Your afternoon and evening will provide you with free time to stroll through the streets and markets of Florence before returning to your hotel, the Hotel Delle Nazioni.  Meals included (B)

Saturday, June 13
Today a full-day tour into Tuscany, with stops in Siena to see the Piazza del Campo; Campanile and majestic Duomo, and Siena Cathedral.  Also a stop in San Gimignano, the medieval "City of Beautiful Towers."  A late afternoon return to Florence to our Hotel Delle Nazioni.  Meals included (B)
