Assistant Professor--Digital Photographer/Graphic Design Foundation

The Missouri Southern State University Art Department invites applications for a one year, Digital Photographer/Graphic Design Foundation non-tenure-track position, with the possibility of renewal, beginning August 2013. MFA with concentration in photography or graphic design required. Teaching includes digital photography and foundation level graphics courses introducing Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design and Dreamweaver) on the Apple platform. Secondary responsibilities include academic advising, oversight of the photography studio and related equipment, and may include teaching foundation level art studio or art appreciation courses. Other departmental/university responsibilities include being involved with program planning, assessment, and curriculum development. Applicant should possess an enthusiasm and commitment to undergraduate teaching, the ability to collaborate with the graphics faculty, and have an active photographic or design career as evidenced by current work and record. Preference will be given to applicants with previous university teaching experience, who could contribute to the department or university international programming, and are broadly trained to teach a range of traditional and contemporary media, techniques, materials, issues, and concepts in photography and graphic design.
