The Missouri Southern State University Art Department invites applications for a .position in Studio (Painting); rank and tenure status will be determined by experience and credentials. Primary teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced painting courses. Secondary teaching responsibilities include foundation courses in color theory and/or drawing and design. Other Departmental-University responsibilities include academic advising, and being involved with program planning, assessment, and curriculum development. Duties also include coordinating the drawing/painting facilities and the hiring and supervising of models. MFA with concentration in painting, drawing, or related area required. Applicant should possess an enthusiasm and commitment to undergraduate teaching, a desire to develop, build, and maintain a strong painting/drawing program, and an active art career as evidenced by current work and exhibition record. Preference will be given to applicants with previous university teaching experience, who could contribute to the department or university international programming (especially with Scandinavian or African art), and are broadly trained to teach a range of traditional and contemporary media, techniques, materials, issues, and concepts in painting and drawing including figurative. Experience with community projects/ murals a plus. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled but priority will be given to applications received before February 15, 2014. Appointment is scheduled to begin August 2014.
