JOPLIN, MO (SNS) – Members of the Music Department faculty and music students from Missouri Southern State University will take part in the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) 75th In-Service/Workshop Jan. 23-26 in Tan-Tar-A.
The theme for this year's conference is "Music: The Key to Success."
Those slated to attend include Department Head Jeff Macomber, along with Cheryl Cifelli, Ron Montgomery, Nicholas Gilmore, Matthew Holt, Debra Snodgrass and David Sharlow.
"The MMEA is having its 75th annual conference in the same year that Missouri Southern is celebrating its 75th anniversary," said Cifelli, professor of Music at Missouri Southern. "We feel this is a good time to let people know what programs MSSU has to offer, as well as to continue our ongoing support of music education in Missouri."
Cifelli says as many as 3,000 educators and students from colleges, universities, high schools and junior high/middle schools will be in attendance.
Many MSSU students attending the conference are members of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), which is a federated affiliate of the MMEA. NAfME has a network of more than 100,000 members in 52 federated state associations which connect with more than 20 million children and their families nationwide.
