JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Members of the Missouri Southern State University family--including students, faculty and staff--are benefiting from three funds and tornado-based scholarships established to help victims of the May 22 tornado in Joplin.
The devastating tornado touched the lives of more than 220 students, faculty, and staff members at Missouri Southern State University.
One faculty member and one student were killed and the spouse of a staff member died. Several others were injured.
Many others suffered damage to property and livelihoods. More than 145 homes were destroyed or damaged and 120 cars were destroyed or damaged.
