JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Serv-A-Thon 10x10x10 Challenge is a project sponsored by the Missouri Southern State University Resource Development Center.
The purpose of the Challenge is to observe the National Day of Service and Remembrance while engaging volunteers in service to their community and raising money to help Joplin recover and rebuild. Our vision between now and September 11, 2011, is to engage teams from across the nation serving in honor of each victim lost in the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks and the Joplin Tornado.
The Serv-A-Thon 10x10x10 Challenge encourages team leaders to register 10 people who individually collect 10 pledges of $10 each in support of their service and observation of the National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Pledges will support the work of MSSU’s Resource Development Center as it assists MSSU students, faculty, and staff to develop projects and programs in partnership with government, school, non-profit, and faith-based organizations. All projects and programs will be developed to reflect community-identified needs that will help Joplin recover and rebuild from the devastation which struck our community on May 22, 2011.
Each person involved in the project, including individuals who sponsor service, can be counted toward the MSSU Resource Center project that was selected for competition in the Corporation for National and Community Service 9/11 Challenge. The goal is to mobilize over 5,000 volunteers for the project.
