“Teaching Music to Students with Disabilities”

Meissa MartirosJOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Dr. Melissa Martiros, Assistant Professor of Music at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisc.,  will present a lecture at Missouri Southern State University titled, “Teaching Music to Students with Disabilities.” 

The lecture will be presented two time, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov.18 in Corley Auditorium in Webster Hall on the Missouri Southern campus in Joplin.

Dr. Martiros specializes in developing techniques for children with disabilities.

A firm believer that all children should have the opportunity to learn music, she currently operates an inclusive independent piano studio in Wisconsin where she teaches children with Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, Cognitive Disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, and Tourette’s Syndrome.

These lectures are funded in part with the support of the Missouri Arts Council and Very Special Arts (VSA), St. Louis Missouri.
