THE CANADA CHALLENGE
Interview with President Speck & Vice President Parsons
A new era of fundraising is dawning this month as Dr. Mark Parsons joins The Pride as Vice President for Development and Executive Director of the Missouri Southern Foundation. The new position consolidates the Alumni Association, the Missouri Southern Foundation, and the University Relations and Marketing Office under one roof. Dr. Parsons will report administratively to President Speck.
KXMS General Manager Jeff Skibbe spoke with President Speck and Vice President Parsons on a variety of topics covering new building projects, budget projections, changing paradigms, athletics, and the new medical school, to name just a few.
Listen to an extended mp3 file version of the interview that aired November 12.

The Canada Semester
Don't tell me you're Canadian, just 'Zip' it, Mister!
Macy's at Joplin's Northpark Mall managed to give Joplin a great big black eye when Bob Hallett of the Canadian band "Great Big Sea" stopped in to purchase some socks during the band's visit to MSSU.
Perhaps this would be a good time for Macy's to initiate a four-way dicussion with the city, the University, and Northpark Mall on the topic of a walkway/bikepath between the university and the mall for the convenience and safety of collegiate customers.
RADIO SURVEY
You Like Us, You Really Like Us...
Survey results have been coming in gradually, both on-line (see SURVEY below), and through the recent mailing to the Klassix Society membership. Peter Van De Graaff (pictured left) and Bill McGlaughlin are treasured by our listenership (and by us). While most criticisms center around the 'The Classical Station,' these mentioned shortcomings really have to do with issues involving staffing and budget, both unhappily affected in these lean budget times. Nearly all issues raised can be remedied with enough financial support. It is really only a matter of partnered committment.
Our goal is simple: to be a class act. If we sound smart, MSSU appears to be a smart place, too. The real question is, will you help us be a first-class act?
