| Eligibility |
All students
who wish to participate in the Honors Program must be admitted to
Southern. Incoming freshmen with at least a composite score on the
ACT of 28 or with at least a grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0
scale) in high school course work are invited to apply for admission
to the program. Two letters of recommendation, from the student's
high school principal and from a high school teacher, and an interview
with the Director of the Honors Program is also required.
Students who have already completed between 15 and 30 hours of course
work with a grade point average of 3.5 at Southern or any other accredited
college or university are also invited to apply for admission into
the program. Unfortunately, the Evans scholarship is not available
to transfer or current students who are admitted.
The Honors Program will offer special admission to Missouri's Associate's
Degree graduates who hold the CBHE Bright Flight Scholarship. Those
with at least a 3.5 GPA will be eligible for a scholarship that covers
the full cost of tuition, room and board, activities, fees, and textbook
rental. Those with a 3.0 GPA will be eligible for a scholarship equivalent
to our Excellence scholarship.
