Communicable Diseases

Students MUST be protected against the diseases of measles, mumps, and rubella (two doses). It is recommended that each student be immunized for tetanus/diphtheria within the last ten (10) years. Vaccination against meningitis is also recommended. The meningitis vaccine is required for students who live in the dormitories or a waiver must be signed. Proof of immunization must be on file in the Student Health Center. Students who are not properly immunized or who have not had these diseases may be banned from University property in the event of an outbreak on campus.

When a communicable disease comes to the attention of the University, whether student, faculty, or staff member, the University's physician and nurse will assume the responsibility for conducting a thorough review based upon the best medical and legal information available. Any action taken will respect the confidentiality of the individual as well as the individual's welfare and that of the University community.

Additional Medical Needs

All students need to have a current medical history on file with the Willcoxon Health Center. A copy of childhood vaccinations also should be filed with the health center on campus. It is recommended for all students starting on campus to have a current tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

General Clinic visits are free with minimal charges for some services (TB testing, vaccinations, pre-employment physicals). Women's and Preventive Services Clinic charges are based on services provided (exams, Pap smears, testing).
