Midwest Student Exchange Program for First Time Freshman

Eligibility:

Midwest Student Exchange Program Awards for first time incoming Freshmen are awarded directly to entering first-time freshmen U.S. Citizens by Missouri Southern. Students must graduate from a high school in one of the participating exchange states of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, or Wisconsin. Students must also meet one of the following criteria:

  • ACT composite score of 21 or higher, OR
  • Rank in the upper 25% of high school graduating class, OR
  • Have an Admission Selection Index number of 75. Please see the Admission Selection Index Calculator at the bottom of this page to figure your index number

Your official high school transcript with ACT score and class rank needs to be sent to the Admissions Office. To verify receipt of your transcript, contact the Admissions Office at 417-625-3098 or 417-625-9378. If you meet one of the above criteria and have not received a Midwest Student Exchange Program Award acceptance certificate, contact the Scholarship Office at 417-625-3161

Value:

Equal to one-half the amount of the out of state portion of the tuition for 12 - 15 credit hours.

Award and Renewal:

This scholarship is renewable up to 8 consecutive semesters with enrollment in at least 12 credit hours at MSSU per semester. Students must complete 24 credit hours for the fall and spring semesters with a 3.0 Cumulative GPA at the end of the Spring semester. If no credit is completed for the Fall semester, the student will lose the scholarship for the Spring semester. If Spring is the first semester, the student must complete at least 12 credit hours with at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA.

Additional Requirements:
  • This scholarship may not be combined with other academic scholarships. Students who are eligible for multiple academic scholarships will be awarded the highest value academic scholarship. It may be combined with performance/department awards up to tuition and room and board (if residing in the residence halls).
  • This scholarship will not cover any deposit, rental, or fees. It must be applied toward nonresident tuition only.
  • You must use this scholarship within one year of High School graduation or GED testing.
  • Students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
