Types of Financial Aid

Grants are gift aid based on financial need that do not have to be repaid.
Scholarships are gift aid which do not need to be repaid. They are typically based on academics, talents, or financial need.
Work Study/Student Help are for Missouri Southern students who need jobs on or off campus. You must qualify to be eligible for work study.
Loans must be repaid, with interest, once you are no longer a student.

When awarding financial aid to students, the Financial Aid Office generally awards gift aid first, employment second, and loans last.
