Joplin, Mo. -- Nicodemus Naimadu became the first runner,
any gender, any division to win his fourth-straight NCAA Cross
Country title, leading the Abilene Christian Men to their
second-straight Division II Cross Country team title, while the
Adams State women won their fifth straight Women's title at the
2007 NCAA Cross Country Championships today in Joplin.
The Missouri Southern men finished

in Joplin, Abilene Christian freshman Winrose Karunda, running
in her first meet of the year, set the mark at 20:39 over the 6k
course. Seattle Pacific sophomore Jessica Pixler, however, won
her first national title and broke the course record today with
a time of 20:29.1. Karunda finished second with a time of
20:42.7.
Adams State won its fifth team
title in a row, defeating Seattle Pacific by 115 points and had
all five scorers in the top 24 and three in the top 11. Grand
Valley State finished third, followed by Chico State, Cal. State

Dakota and Tampa to round out the top ten women's teams.

Tanya Gaurmer was third, followed by Emporia State's Janel
Rossbach and Wayne State's (Mich.) Rachelle Malette in fourth
and fifth, respectively.
Abilene Christian repeated as
champs in the men's race and defeated second place Western State
and Adams State, both of whom scored 66 points, by a margin of
seven points. Grand Valley State was fourth, followed by
Minnesota State-Mankato, Chico State, Colorado - Mines, Southern
Indiana, Slippery Rock and New Mexico Highlands to round out the
top ten men's teams.
The Missouri Southern men
finished just one point out of 11th place and just 20 points
from the top ten. The Lions were led by Dustin Dixon's 23rd
place finish, completing the 10k course in a time of 31:13.0.
Dixon suffered a slight break in his leg in the fourth mile and
still finished the race, qualifying for All-American status.
Isaac Garcia finished 35th with a time of 31:35.4 and was also
named All-American.
Ryan Arthur finished just outside
of All-American status with a 59th place finish, while Brennon
Benkert finished at 107. Kyle Davis was 137th, and Derek Wright
was 152nd. Dustin Miller, running with a bad case of the flu,
finished 173rd.

the team and individual awards will be presented tonight at the
