MSSU Alumni Association

Hello and thank you MSSU Alumni!

We are now officially “home” in the Ralph L. Gray Alumni Center and we couldn’t be happier. The website will show you photos of our grand opening with donors and provide you with a story of “Our Journey” to get to this point for the Alumni Association. We will try to begin a new journey of continued thanks to all of you for your help in getting us to this point.

We have been amazed at the response of visitors to the Alumni Center. By February 2011 we had already had over 1800 visitors through our doors. Freshmen Orientation classes (now called UE – University Experience) attend a class at the Alumni Center and learn the history of Joplin Junior College growing into a university.

Daily, we have visitors come to visit and see the beautiful restoration, view an autographed professional football or basketball jersey of one of our alums, or view the beautiful alumni artwork by Sarah (Hall) Huntley, ’97 in the Dining Room and nature photos by Noppadol Paothong, ’01 in the Fountain Room.

During the holiday season, we hosted the first ever Mary Helen Harutun Holiday Sing in the Music Room. Our Student Alumni Association hosted a table-top Christmas tree project, with trees distributed to local nursing homes and the Lafayette House in her honor.

We know how very lucky we are to have such a beautiful and historic place to call our home. And, we know how very lucky we are to have so many alumni and friends who have provided gifts of money, service and time. We can never thank you enough, but please come by often and we will certainly try!

Lee Elliff Pound, ‘86
Alumni Director
