IRA
IRA is the organization for all educators who love books and dream of worldwide literacy!
Membership in IRA allows each member to:
- Stay up to date with current literacy information as it pertains to education
- Contribute to personal and professional development
- Network with other educators
- Assume a leadership role at MSSU and while teaching
- Be part of nationwide literacy movement
- Fellowship with other teacher education students
- Have opportunities to join national IRA at student rate
- Use membership as meaningful resume entry
- Attend Jasper County IRA meetings
- Participate in Young Authors' Conference and meet the authors
- Begin a lifelong membership that will provide countless opportunities
- Receive The Missouri Reader, Reading Teacher, Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy
Activities:
Three or four meetings per semester featuring:
- Book giveaways
- Book talks
- Information sharing
- Refreshments
- Traditional Christmas party
Fundraisers:
- Rock & Read (Fall)
- Book Nook (Spring)
