Teachers Make a Difference!

Why teach? There are a multitude of reasons that teachers choose their profession.

Often they had one or more significant teachers in their lives who impacted you in a positive way--teachers who made a difference.

Now those students whose lives were made better by a teacher want to pay it forward by becoming teachers and making a difference in their students' lives.

Effective teachers want to be positive role models; they have a passion for learning and want to inspire their students to love learning and become lifelong learners. They recognize that their students represent the future, and by making a difference in their lives, they can "touch the future!"

The MSSU Teacher Education program is nationally accredited and made up of faculty and staff who are dedicated to developing the best possible teachers for tomorrow's classrooms.

"The Joplin School District appreciates our partnership with Missouri Southern. We know that when we get a Missouri Southern graduate, we are getting an educator who is highly trained, understands the challenges and opportunities in Missouri schools, and has a sincere desire to make a difference in the lives of children. We are fortunate to have such a highly productive teacher education program in our backyard."

Dr. C.J. Huff, Superintendent-Joplin School District

"The Missouri Southern Teacher Education Program prepares teachers in many ways to be successful in the classroom.  The administration and faculty get to know their students very well, and they offer outstanding assistance so each teacher candidate can learn and gain the confidence needed to be ready for his/her first teaching assignment.  MSSU teachers are ready to contribute on day one, and they understand what it takes to work in a team atmosphere at school!"

Dr. Kerry Sachetta, Principal-Joplin High School

"MSSU consistently graduates teachers prepared to make a positive difference in the lives of our students."  Stephen Gilbreth, Principal-Memorial Middle School, Joplin School District
