Shannon Connolly completed her B.As. in both French and Anthropology with an honor Summa Cum Laude at the Kansas State University in 2009 and subsequently received her M.A./ Ph.D. in French at the University of University of Virginia in 2011 and 2015, respectively.  Her dissertation title was “Equity and Amerindian Languages and Cultures in the Essais of Michel de Montaigne”.  Her scholarship combines literary and legal criticism with the linguistic, cultural, ethnohistorical and archaeological research methods that she acquired as an undergraduate anthropology major.
